RIP Pink Blankie/Ode to my Minnie

a horrific incident has happened, at least it is horrific for my four year old daughter Neomi.  her lovey pink blankie has been destroyed.  i am not sure how, my husband was the culprit. but what i can gather is there was an incident with projectile vomit and my poor hubbie was all alone without my help.

my husband and i have an agreement that in the case of vomit, he does the bath and i do the cleanup.  well in this case, due to my absence, my husband tried to clean it up but in the end was force by gag reflex to take all to the dumpster.

this would not be a problem for any of our other children, but Neomi has been attached to that blanket since she could crawl.  it was given to her by our beloved Grandma Nasty (my grandmother whose name is Nancy, but the girls could only pronounce it Nasty and it stuck :P).

it has been a little over a week and she is dealing with the situation as well as she can.  after a teary bedtime, going down the stairs my husband turns to me and says, "she gets this from you, you know"  it definately took me aback.  i had never realized that i still had my lovie that i have stept with since my sixth birthday.  once we got ready for bed he pointed out that it was time for it to go.  one reason being that i had recently purchased a beautiful bed set and used my Minnie instead and the other is that in our five years of marriage we have always used seperate blankets. (if you have have a blanket stealer of a husband or wife like i do you would understand, but that is a whole different post:)

so i will give the blanket to my daughter Neomi, but not before i show you how awesome it is:

it is so threadbare in places, but it was awesome at one point of time!

my mother refused to mend the seam so i was forced to do it myself...these are some of my first stitches, i guess i was about ten or so.

this was the first stitches i ever made on a sewing machine!

it is pretty silly for a 26 year old mother of four to be sleeping with a Minnie Mouse blanket :)

so do you have anything that you have kept since you were young?  what would you do if you had to part with it?

the great "battle"

i don't know about any other ladies, but one thing i definately do not look forward to, as a woman, is breaking in a new bra.  i went shopping this weekend and decided it was time to retire the ol'faithfuls i have had for a while...

i am getting a bit more personal than i thought i would but i feel it is important that some things are understood about me.  i am a melancholy person, meaning i am very introvert, to myself, and a pessimist. however i love deeply, totally devoted to anything or anyone whom i find genuine and of good quality.  i am sceptical about new things so when i need something new it is a big deal because i really don't like to waste money on something i won't use. so when i find something i like, i become completely sold out for them, a customer for life.

anyway back to subject...after a long day of shopping i end up getting the same bra i always get, but they changed something on it.  and as you can tell by the preceeding  paragraph, i thrive on consistancy.  so now i find myself completedly exausted, not because of the children or any homemaking adventures, it was due to constant tugging and readjusting.  i really feel like i have fought some battle like this bra had it out for me, saying "i have a job to do and by every thread in me, i am going to do it!" and it did...so now a night of rest and try this again in the morning.

pinto beans, are you serious!

still finding pinto beans hidden in "treasure" spots all over my house. my second set of twins and their cousin, whom i watch during the work week, took a look through the pantry and got their little hands on an 8 oz bag of pinto beans while i was doing laundry.  by the time i found them, it was already too late, the bag was completely empty.

this is something i am very used to by now, unfortunately.  my older twins, now four were known for their permanent marker fights that disfigured my living room furniture or using daddy's clippers to give each other hair cuts.

i had gotten pretty good at preventing these covert operations, however i guess i have let my skills go during the last year of harmony.  but now we are at the threshold of the babies' experimental phase.  yet this time it is different, there are three nearly two year olds, strength in numbers.
